You sprout in the valley above soiled feet
The sun shines kindly
For this be your seat
Conspicuous leaves awaiting your taste
To be picked one by one
For that is their grace
Layers and layers holding your heart
Born together yet soon may depart
Your center so pure and tender with love
Tips that are pointed within nature’s glove
You tell ancient stories, and to this avail
Love may be shielded, yet softness prevails
Oh artichoke, artichoke my heart listens to you
For artichoke, artichoke we are not two.
