Prayer for World Peace, September 11, 2001

Bless this ground on which I step
May I learn from its strength

Bless this air in which I breathe
Even though there is a deep void today
May I learn from it how quickly
One can fill that void
with sustenance, good health and hope

Bless the calm waters
May I bask in their everlasting peace

Bless the sun
May I feel its warmth and love
Providing for all
Regardless of religion
or country-of-origin

Bless this earth
May I learn from it unity and support
How all of humanity is connected
By a single threat
nurtured by

Love
Hope &
Peace

Morning Prayer, the Seed*

Thank you for the wind that blows the seed

For the soil and solid earth which catches the seed
For the sun that keeps the seed warm
For the rain that nourishes the seed

Thank you for our patience while waiting for the seed
to grow from seedling…to flower…to fruit

Thank you for the farmer who cultivates the seed
For the distributor who brings it out to market
For the market which displays it for others to buy

Thank you for our jobs
So our families are able to purchase it

Thank you for our healthy bodies so we can bring it home
Thank you for our clear minds
So we are able to prepare it, serve it and
feed it to our children
…our seeds

I was overjoyed to be asked to read this prayer for the invocation for Feasting and Fasting at the Table of Abraham, an interfaith dialogue luncheon sponsored by Fellowship In Prayer this past May.

Kathy,
Here's a blessing I said I'd post for you. I couldn't resist...I had to post two. Since I'm of course posting around midnight so the other is on 2-28-12.
In love, light and laughter,
Joan

Wild Flowers of Faith and Fear

Strolling in the rain this summer’s morn,
I gaze upon two wild flowers…one a dandelion and the other unknown

Oh, how the dandelion closes its petals in fear of being washed away if the rains grows heavy and the wind too strong

While the unknown one remains open and upright with a belief that the rains will stop and the sun will shine again
She stays open with faith

She may have memories of storms of yesteryear
But still remains open even with this uncertainty of what tomorrow may hold
Her open petals boldly face a hidden sun

In any weather she remains unshakable

If she should happen to be
Ripped and torn and swept away in a violent upcoming storm
Her memories and quests for beautiful sunny days will always remain
And within these open petals she will always be remembered for her strong beliefs, convictions and rare beauty

A Tossed Stone

Like a stone tossed into a calm, sunlit pond causes gentle ripples radiating throughout …
may my meditation today be the impetus of a rippling energy of peace and healing to all.

My Love

I can see my love today
Swaying gracefully
in each summer’s
breeze

The comfort
in a clear
winter
sky

 Soaring with the eagle
leaving me
in
complete and
absolute
amazement

Grander than
Mother Earth and Father Sky

Serenading me
in every bird’s song
within the gentle
hush
of each
breeze

A melody so beautiful
that it is only
meant
for a royal court

A love so strong
it sometimes
makes
me shutter
in
fear
for it is so strong
stronger than
life itself

Be it old or new
you lie in
eternity

As all the stars
beam on
the clearest of nights
your love
letters
are written
across the
sky

Cradled
in your
love
even though I am
unable to
touch
you
I live within
your
breast

I see you in
each treetop swaying
in the breeze

Each joyful reflection
of a twinkling sunbeam upon my
spring waters

Every drop of rain
from a summer’s
sun shower

Intense indigo dusk
as your parting lights
reflect
upon the florescent
white winter’s snow

Coming to me in
midnight
dreams
I awaken with
a smile

Gazing skyward
or glancing upon
the
firm ground beneath my feet

I know you are
never too
far with
open arms
