Hope and Courage

The rains may replenish and nourish but
may also drown and rise up taking any and all

The air may provide sustenance
but its winds may also blow and suck the life out of all in its path

The earth may firmly support us but may also part dropping us into terror

Mother Earth today I may see peace but also know your wrath

May I earn your support through
ACCOUNTABILITY in all of my actions,
SUSTAINABILITY in my intentions and
SINCERITY in my stewardship

The air, the earth, the water…we are one
What I do to you, I do to myself and my children

Please guide me
Open my path so I may share this with others... for all of our hearts can beat as one
Let me take just a moment to lie down on your soft spring grass in the light of the sun,
close my eyes, and feel your comfort

I know you are my only destiny

May I always be grateful for your guidance and kindness

Today in my meditation I followed my path and went ten steps through this gray sky
then entered “the blue” an endless bright, comforting blue sky above this gray cloud covered earth. I stayed in “the blue”, rejoiced in this clarity and shared “the blue” with others. We sang in a circle of “the blue” with all. The music was rich. I shared “the blue” with all my loved ones, all countries, all humankind, all living things, all spaces. I shared “the blue” with an open hand.

I give thanks for my hands and skin so I can touch and be touched.
I give thanks for my hips so I can stand firmly in my beliefs of stewardship
I give thanks for my heart so I can love and be loved
I give thanks for my head…may I think wisely and share this wisdom and quest with others

I give thanks for my higher power…may I always have hope and courage.

Today

Acknowledge what I have done today.
Acknowledge each task at hand before
brushing it away into the wind.

Shadow

Where there is a shadow
there is also light shining upon
what is still standing

What Have We Done

I have written standing in the snow
in the bitter cold of the winter
in the high winds of fall and
in the rains of all seasons
but today I stand in short sleeves
no jacket
feeling as if I am in a tropical place yet it is New Jersey in late December

Yesterday was warm and scores of robins flew around not knowing which way to go
but today there are no robins this tepid morning
Where have they gone?
The only thing I can see and hear is the wild squawking of the Canadian geese down yonder
and the breezes from the treetops
Oh baron trees
Oh melting ice
Oh soggy ground
I ask
What have we done?
These gentle raindrops do not know
but in this moment there is no mystery
What have we done?
The sky is getting darker and darker as these rain clouds roll on by
What have we done?
What have we done?
