A Story

 

This morning I spied a worm in the middle of the sidewalk. Knowing of the bright sun and dryness to come, I decided to help it.  

First, I tried to pick it up but it squirmed in fear. In this state, I couldn’t lift it without injuring it. Then I tried to nudge it with a few blades of grass only to have it fall into a crack between the sidewalk crevasses. Unable to reach it at all, I patiently waited hoping it would find its way back to the moist soil where it could not just survive but thrive. Finally the worm maneuvered in the right direction but there stood yet another challenge. With the confidence of overcoming the first hurdle, it now persevered over this small hump even more forthright than before. 

Through this experience, I received greater sense of clarity on how important it is when one may want to guide or protect others, one shouldn’t force what they believe is best. Having the strength to be an observer at times can be much more powerful than the sheppard.

Asteroid

If an asteroid was going to hit the earth...
No one would worry about what boarders we live on or share
No one would worry about what religion we follow
No one would become consumed with hatred or fear for others
No one

No one would care who has more oil, money or power
No one would even care about who has clean water or plentiful crops
No one

But it would be the time in which we seek the company of our loved ones
we would sit hand and hand as one

For that moment we would all be cradled equally
by what has often been forgotten and disregarded, our mother earth
