Land of Two Suns*

“Tell me mommy, when we gaze upon the earth from billions of miles away why do we see two suns?”
All of us know of Earth’s one sun.  It shines golden and pure in the eastern sky each morning. It appears to descend every evening as a florescent gift to our west.

“Yes, we know the midnight sky is the living history of our ancestors’ shining points, so crystal and pure. But while standing upon the earth, one can only see a single sun. Yet, from Alpha Centauri two burn bright: the one above and one within. The hearts of all of earth’s inhabitants beat as one and in that we can see our second sun."

Awaken*

Before I meditate a stone is just a stone.
It is cold yet at times may catch and reflect the sun.

After meditation, I open my eyes and now it is surrounded by a special calmness. The air is soft like cotton balls and the stone not only catches and reflects light but twinkles with awe. It conveys a quite joy and makes me smile with a heartfelt warmth. Before I meditated all was winter yet afterwards in that moment spring is awakened.

Lead My Way

May the fear I have in tomorrow stop being my driving force

and may the love and light of today

lead my way

Tell Me of Love from our Mother Earth*

The air…light as a free-floating  feather

Whispering  sunsets, a’ fore night
Twinkling  diamonds beyond stars, time and flight

Intense crystal prisms, against  mossy sky
Love’s a blue florescent butterfly, I cannot tell why

Emerging from its cocoon, awakening wings, ready to fly
Bursting juices of ancient pomegranate, eucalyptus waters, velvet the nye

Ancient hearts beat, echoing of the drum
True happiness I hear, my life has begun

We dance,  gypsy tangos, laughter fills the air
The joy, of joys, my true love is here

Birth from the egg, contours of your lip
Memories of our past, from your eyes, I do sip

Smoothness of the mango, sweet smiles upon your face
Who cares about time, when all I see is lace

Oh, how doth my heart long, that is how my story goes
For a kiss upon your brow, a stroke upon your toes

Rhythms of the waltz, each melody doth grow
Sonatas I hear, as my harp strings grace, soft and flow

Magnificent skies of violet, orange and blue
I can see in your eyes, this moment’s for you

As morrow’s moon, rises, rises above
Oh, how doth my heart long, yet sparkles with love

I whisper your name upon each midnight sky
Echoes eons, of eons, of eons gone by

Now freedom’s bees have arrived
Sharing honey with you, only you, ‘tis no surprise

Hummingbirds sing, flutter in flight
Oh, how I’ve dreamt, dreamt of yesterdays night

My love for you never falters, oh, how these moments grow
Your sweet, tender touch, your kind, gentle glow

Busy are we, for daybreak has come
We take our last dance, as the moon welcomes the sun

dream of billowy bed linens, draped silken white
This moment I soar on the strings of a kite

My springtime arrives, the white dove doth fly
Love, an olive branch carried up thru the sky

You, my oasis, my well of delight
Crystal covered mountains, you are my light

The Story of Wheat*

Life is clearly understood by looking at wheat…rooted, connected and sustained by the nutrients of the earth and nurtured by the light of the sun. These basic elements of life are apparent for its survival.
Now examine its purpose and position.
One of its purposes is sustenance which is offered to many forms of life. Maybe, the wheat has knowledge of its value, giving may be its mode of communication. Even though we may not understand it, the wheat may understand us.
The wheat has also emotional beauty which it shares with us.
As we gaze upon a field of wheat, it may convey feelings of serenity, calmness, and peace. We may also experience its sensual beauty through its soothing touch, refreshing aroma when baked and even as we hear it interact with the breezes on a cool autumn day.
The wheat may share its unconditional love but is it reciprocal?
Our perception of the wheat is reflected from the exact moment in which it is growing and sharing to the exact point in which we are gazing upon it or consuming it. We both are products of nature’s elements. I may become lost in my own thoughts but the simplicity of it all boils down to how we interact with one another.

The wheat thrives plentiful with its family and community but alone may go unnoticed, almost invisible. How can one acknowledge the wheat and give thanks for what has nurtured us so well, when we can barely see it?

The story of purpose, survival, nurturing and connectivity can be taught within one gaze of this fruitful field. May we feel its love for us as it offers its nurturing gifts in a single touch, taste or gaze. The wheat never stops giving but in its silence it may be forgotten.

Morning Prayer, The Seed*

Thank you for the wind that blows the seed

For the soil and solid earth which catches the seed
For the sun that keeps the seed warm
For the rain that nourishes the seed

Thank you for our patience while waiting for the seed
to grow from seedling…to flower…to fruit

Thank you for the farmer who cultivates the seed
For the distributor who brings it out to market
For the market which displays it for others to buy

Thank you for our jobs
So our families are able to purchase it

Thank you for our healthy bodies so we can bring it home
Thank you for our clear minds
So we are able to prepare it, serve it and
feed it to our children
…our seeds

Open Path*

As I walk through the thicket of trees
I have found an open path by a flowing stream
A natural place to follow
There is a hush through the treetops
Whispering, whispering, whispering words of peace, acceptance and serenity
“Joan, align yourself with the highest leaf on the highest branch and fly.”

Free Yourself*

Free yourself
Let yourself feel happiness
See the beauty within
Give yourself permission to feel it
If not just for one moment
May that moment last forever

Kingdom of the Day*

Today is that perfect day in which one would meditate about...
warm with a hint of peppermint in each breeze
The sky, yes the sky, an endless blue
only
to be interrupted by the greens of the tallest
proudest trees
I can feel the kingdom of the day

Theory of Usefulness*

If you gave primitive people a computer they may notice:

the way it feels:
bumpy, yet pliable and uncommonly smooth in other places
its density or lack of.

The way it sounds:
a clicking sound when touching various symbols.

The way it looks:
its strange symbols and unnatural design.

The way it tastes or lack of edibility

….therefore rendered useless

If they only knew it could provide them with information on making a more secure shelter, information on enhancing their sustenance (trapping or killing animals easier, planting better crops, etc.)
They would not know its purpose.

When we look at the sky, we may see something aesthetically pleasing or we may see something scientifically analytical. But do we know its true purpose?
Can it free our mind?
Enable us to grow?
Provide us the sustenance for greater hope and faith?

One is limited by their five senses.
But the sky…she has no limits.

Our Center*

The Earth
she is the center of a daisy
steadfast, life-bearing and cohesive

We are the petals
We grow from her

We depend on her for our very existence

She provides the contrast to enhance our beauty
The earth can survive without us
but we cannot survive without her

Together we share a bond of delicate coexistence
and the rarest and most unique beauty
Honor our bond

Song of the Seed

Song of the Seed, An ode--- Condensed, Rev.5
Poem: Invictus. (taking responsibility for one’s destiny
10-15-07

Oh point so sharp
And lead so fine

These words are
written upon my vine

 Walk with friends
or walk alone

But where we breathe
Shall be our home

You sit upon your mighty throne
Yet earth, air and water, you do not own

Faster, faster, was your song
The future’s here, oh what went wrong

For mother earth she cries, she cries for now
Her tears, they stream upon my brow

You may have thought I loved you best
But all creations lie within my breast

Oh oak so strong, with wisdom be
Share nurturing stories from this tree.

Oh wheat of wheat, sustain and sway
Awaken spirits of this day

Seed of seeds, smile and sprout
Teaching hope so deep, it must burst out

Our job of jobs, hard work be true
Our precious earth must be renew

Caring and wise, this path I see
Perfection is too strict for me

For this moment, I do stride
With open heart, and written pride

From birth to birth, oh how I wait
To thrive as one it’s not too late

Our lights shine so bright, so bright within

My word of words let us begin
